Coconut husk chips process

From whole coconut husk to clean, consistently sized chips.

Husk-chip production keeps the husk as structured pieces. It uses cutting, washing and precise screening rather than the fibre extraction and hydraulic baling used for 120 kg fibre bales.

Mature coconut husks selected for husk chips
1

Mature husk selection

Mature coconut husks are selected and sorted before processing. Unsuitable material and visible foreign matter are removed from the feedstock.

2

Husk cutting — not defibering

Whole husk material is fed through a cutting or chipping machine. Unlike fibre-bale production, the husk is retained as pieces rather than separated into loose fibre and pith.

Washing and leaching

The cut chips are washed with fresh water to remove dirt and reduce naturally occurring soluble salts. Washing requirements can be adjusted to the buyer’s specification.

Screened coconut husk chips sized from 6 to 15 millimetres
4

Screening to 6–15 mm

The washed material is screened to separate fines, oversized pieces and unwanted matter, producing the specified 6–15 mm chip fraction.

Dried and quality-checked coconut husk chips
